Java software engineer

We are seeking Java Software Engineers to assist in developing new functionality and enhancing our software. If you possess a knack for coding and have an interest in agile methodologies, we welcome you to join one of our teams!

Key about your role

As a Java software engineer you are responsible for building new features, bug fixing, and improving existing functionality in Axon. Axon is our standard SaaS platform supporting all core insurance processes.

You will collaborate closely with design engineers and test engineers, actively participating in refinement, sprint planning, and demoing your work during sprint reviews. At times, you will also have the opportunity to interact directly with customers during these meetings.

As a medior engineer, you are expected to participate in code reviews of other developers on the team. The complexity of the code you review will increase gradually as you gain experience. "For me, the fun of development is in figuring out how the existing code works and how we can best adapt it to meet the customer's (new) wishes” says Jeroen, developer in the Contracts cluster.

“The nice thing for me as a Java developer within a product development team is that the work is not just writing code. You help think about the implementation of the customer's requirements. Together with the team, you make a plan on how you will test new functionality and which automated tests you want to build for it.”

Key about you

  • You have experience with large technical ecosystems using Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, Angular, Docker;
  • You have experience in working with SQL and databases (DB2, PostgreSQL);
  • You understand the agile way of working, tools and techniques;
  • You have an eye for writing code with attention for performance, scalability and maintainability;
  • It’s a plus if you have experience with or interest in CICD (Teamcity, Bash, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, etc.);
  • You are passionate about your code. You love to put your strong analytical skills to the test whilst working closely together with your team.

Your team is a modern scrum team within the Product Development department and develops one or more modules in our non-life insurance product Axon. It is the responsibility of your team to deliver a high-value, high-quality product that really fits the needs of our customers. By creating and maintaining state-of-the-art software which models the insurers’ business, your team provides the best solution that supports insurance processes. We are proud to have mature and self-organizing scrum teams, that are able to deliver our high quality software with high reliability and take ownership over their own code and processes. Keylane offers

The Claims team is responsible for all the core insurance processes surrounding claims handling. This is a very dynamic part of insurance software as claims are where our customers get their chance to prove their worth! The Claims team makes it possible to configure flexible claim report forms that can increase their efficiency with lots of automation. We also make it easy to communicate with all parties involved in the claim, and in the end make it possible to settle the claim in a way that makes their clients happy.

Team Requests is responsible for how insurances are requested in our application Axon. Basically, we make sure that anyone requesting a new insurance can do that as easily and smoothly as possible. That can either be an end user via the internet, an intermediary or someone working for the insurance company itself. Our team also prides itself in delivering quality software by improving the test automation and never missing an opportunity to improve existing code. In addition, our teams work very closely together and are proud of their working atmosphere. Be ready to play cards and make some jokes together!

Key about you

  • You are used to creating and performing unit, system and integration tests as part of your development work;
  • You understand the agile way of working, tools and techniques;
  • You have an eye for writing code with attention for performance, scalability and maintainability;
  • For junior engineers, we seek those who are eager to learn large technical ecosystems. For mid-level engineers, experience with large technical ecosystems using Java, IntelliJ, Git, Gradle, Angular, and Docker is a plus.

Keylane offers

  • Starting with a monthly gross salary between € 3,000 and € 4,500 (according to your experience) based on 40 hours per week;
  • 8% holiday allowance of your total gross salary;
