You come to work with us for 4 hours (one half day) a week and organize within these hours two computer classes at the asylum seeker center in Utrecht. Je komt 4 uur (één dagdeel) per week bij ons werken en organiseert binnen deze uren twee computerlessen op het asielzoekerscentrum in Utrecht.

Your main task is to teach basic computer skills to a changing group of asylum seekers. The level is generally (very) low. A maximum of 8 participants take part in each computer lesson. The participants have different (cultural) backgrounds, language skills, ages, and digital skills. The availability of the participants also varies. Therefore, there is no fixed curriculum and there is a lot of personal attention for individual questions during the lessons. This requires flexibility on your part. Depending on the level, you can work with the participants on: - practicing typing on a keyboard via an online course - sending an email - using Word or PowerPoint - creating a LinkedIn profile - writing a resume - connecting to wifi - understanding what a computer is (hardware and software) - how to store your documents clearly in folders You give the computer lessons at Plan Einstein (Joseph Haydnlaan 2, Utrecht) in the asylum seekers' center. Other refugee organizations such as Welkom in Utrecht and Vluchtelingenwerk also work here. The start date is as soon as possible. The lessons are now scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, from 2:45 PM to 4:15 PM, and from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM (plus preparation and cleaning up). In consultation, the lessons can also be scheduled on another working day. The weekend is not possible. Of course, you will be trained in advance by someone from Incluusion, and someone will accompany you to the lessons the first time/times. After that, you will teach the lessons independently. For an impression of the computer lessons, you can read this article. Your profile We are looking for you if you bring the following:  You are somewhat handy with computers and specifically with Google Workspace (we use both Chromebooks and regular laptops during the lessons. The participants therefore mainly work via a Google account).  You can help people develop their basic digital skills.  You enjoy working with a diverse group of participants.  You enjoy standing in front of a class.  You are independent.  You are flexible and can switch well between the different participants and their questions.  You speak Dutch and English (both at least at B2 level).  You are available for a half day until December 2025 (day/time in consultation).  You are studying at a UU Bachelor's or Master's program. Please also respond if you do not meet the following requirements, for us these are bonuses:

 You have experience with or knowledge of teaching or providing (homework) guidance to individuals and/or groups.  You have experience with or knowledge of (working with) newcomers.  In addition to Dutch and English, you also speak another language, such as Arabic, Tigrinya, Somali, Persian, Turkish or Spanish. Offer We offer a temporary appointment via Topselect as a student employee, starting as soon as possible until the end of 2025. The gross hourly wage is 16.62 euros. If it works out well for both parties and new project funds are released, an extension will follow. More information or apply? Would you like more information or would you like to apply directly? Please send an e-mail to Ragna Senf (project manager) via incluusion@uu.nl. Please include your CV and a cover letter of maximum 1 A4.
