About the Role

Are you a student familiar with AI? Can you build chatbots using AI and do you have knowledge of information security? If so, this position might be of interest to you!

Utrecht University (UU) is accelerating its policy framework regarding the application of AI in education and the creation of secure AI systems, tools, and platforms. To support the AI in Education program, we are looking for a student assistant with a hands-on mindset who enjoys driving results and is passionate about software and Responsible AI.


Key Responsibilities

1. Organization, Support & Collaboration

  • Support AI Compliance Team Sessions (Education): Scheduling, organizing rooms and hybrid meetings, taking minutes.
  • Management: Maintain the MS Teams site and member list for the UU AI Compliance Education Team.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor NPM within the domain of AI compliance.
  • Initiatives: Willingness to contribute to AI student ambassador initiatives.

2. Compliance Support

  • Execute the allow-listing process for low-risk narrow AI tools in collaboration with privacy officers and information security specialists, following the UU AI Veritas Process.

3. Development of AI Tools

  • Build Chatbots / AI Agents: Utilize platforms such as Hugging Face, GitHub, Python, n8n, Azure, etc., to explore and test the potential of AI within the education domain.
  • AI Evals & QA: Implement AI evaluation routines for QA of chatbots and AI platforms, and write Python test scripts based on frameworks like OWASP and synthetic datasets.
  • Quality Protocols: Contribute to drafting QA protocols for AI systems and tools.

Requirements

  • Excellent command of written and spoken Dutch
  • Good command of English
  • Experience with AI software development
  • Experience with Python scripting
  • Knowledge of and experience with Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • Experience working with MS Teams
  • Available for a minimum of 4 to 5 months (extension possible upon satisfactory performance)
  • Flexible working hours (in consultation; partial remote work is possible)
