In this day and age where companies want to become more agile and are moving their applications to the cloud, we would not want to waste valuable time having to rewrite applications for a specific platform or cloud service. This is where containers come in.

Containers are lightweight software components that bundle the application, its dependencies and its configuration in a single file. This means we are no longer reliant on the platform we are running on because we have everything we need with us. Due to, among other things, digitization and microservices architectures the number of containers in production will rise rapidly. Orchestration of containers is crucial to keep the production environment controllable and maintainable. Kubernetes is currently the most used container orchestration platform out there to help out in this growing environment of microservices and containers.
