Trading Analyst

Trading Analyst (Academic Part-time Job)

If you’re in the later stages of a STEM or Econometrics Bachelor’s Degree or starting your Master’s, becoming Optiver's Trading Analyst is an excellent opportunity to put your analytical prowess to the test. You’ll work closely with experienced traders, engineers and other analysts to identify and create solutions that continuously improve Optiver's trading strategies. Along the way, we'll provide our world-class, in-house trainings; develop your coding skills; and provide you with flexible working hours. Important note: To qualify for this role you need to study in The Netherlands and be eligible to work more than 16 hours per week. We do not offer sponsorship for this role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Trading Analyst, you will work directly on one of Europe's most dynamic and exciting trading floors, where over 100 Optiver traders manage their own books. You will analyse day-to-day trading performance, work on projects that optimise our strategies and pricing, and ensure trading sheets are well structured. All of this will take place in close collaboration with our Traders, Data Analysts and Engineers who constantly invite you to challenge the status quo and propose areas of improvement.

The opportunities to develop yourself in this role are endless and a steep learning curve is guaranteed. You are welcome to participate in our 'Trading for Non-Traders’ program, sign-up for Python and SQL courses after work, join the morning trading meetings and work on your personal effectiveness by participating in one of many courses our Learning & Development Department has on offer. All in all, the Trading Analyst role is a fantastic stepping stone to becoming a full-time Trader, Data Analyst or Quantitative Researcher at Optiver upon your graduation.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • University student in the 3rd year of your Bachelor's, or 1st/2nd year of your Masters, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance or equivalent
  • Experience with Matlab or Python (we are happy to train you further in SQL and Python)
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong affinity for financial markets
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Currently studying in the Netherlands and eligible to work more than 16 hours per week
